It was an absolute privilege to play a small part in Andy and Mel’s unique wedding day at the beginning of August. Hosting the couple at Bradan Lodges was a joy from start to finish. They wanted a private, nature-focused celebration, and the Western Highlands of Scotland provided the perfect backdrop for their elopement.
Saying “I Do” at Avich Falls
Joined by their humanist celebrant, and with Carson their dog proudly serving as furry best man, Andy and Mel shared a joyful, deeply personal ceremony beside the cascading waters of Avich Falls. After exchanging their vows in the beautiful natural setting, the newlyweds returned to their secluded cabin to let the true celebrations begin.
A Romantic Return to the Lodge
The lodge was transformed into a cosy, romantic sanctuary for their return. Outside, nature provided the finishing touches: the entrance to the lodge was framed with lush local plants, ferns and wild flowers gathered straight from the Glen.
Inside, the space was adorned with vintage bunting, soft glowing flameless candles, and rose petals scattered across the bed. A chilled bottle of champagne and a gorgeous homemade wedding cake were waiting on the table. Seeing the look on Mel’s face as she walked through the door was a genuinely unforgettable moment.
Hot Tubs, BBQ Huts, and the Furry Best Man
The rest of the day was spent in complete relaxation. Carson the dog settled in comfortably, officially proving that dogs make the absolute best wedding party!
As evening fell, Andy and Mel extended the celebrations outdoors:
- Dinner in the BBQ Hut: Lighting the fire in the private timber BBQ hut, they enjoyed an intimate wedding dinner sheltered from the evening chill.
- Unwinding Under the Stars: The night ended with a long soak in the private hot tub under the clear skies of Kilmichael Glen.
