The ultimate dog-friendly escape is all about effortless convenience and peaceful countryside seclusion. Nothing beats the freedom of slipping on your boots and stepping straight out your lodge door onto scenic trails with your four-legged companion. Nestled in the heart of Argyll on the West Coast of Scotland, Bradan Lodges offers a tranquil retreat where your next countryside adventure begins in seconds, no car key required.
There’s no need to memorise route maps before you arrive. Every lodge (Pine Marten, Woodcock, and Wildcat) comes stocked with a handy laminated guide you can grab as you head out of the door. Prefer a digital version? We can send a copy straight to your inbox or phone before or during your stay.
As passionate dog lovers, the owners have personally explored the surrounding countryside, ensuring every route is thoroughly tried, tested, and approved by their own Border Terrier, Lucas!
Here are three of our favourite dog walks starting right from your front door:
1. The River Add Walk

- Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour
- Highlights: A gentle walk following country tracks down to our private beat on the River Add. It’s the perfect spot for your dog to paddle, splash in the water, and explore along the quiet riverbanks.
2. Burenich Hill
- Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours (Approx. 5 miles)
- Highlights: A more energetic, rewarding climb to the summit of the hill visible directly from the lodges. The trail takes you past an old ruined village and finishes with sweeping, panoramic views across the glen and beyond to the Trossachs and the Islands Jura and Mull.

3. The Phone Mast & Forestry Track

- Duration: 1 to 1.5 hours
- Highlights: A straightforward walk along wide forestry tracks with a steady incline. Ideal for a reliable, mud-free route that leads up to breathtaking countryside vistas.
Whether you want a quick river paddle or an energetic hill trek, returning to your luxury lodge to relax is the perfect end to the day. Pack your boots, bring your four-legged companion (or companions!), and enjoy a hassle-free, dog-friendly lodge getaway in the Western Highlands!
